Year 3 2022 - 2023

Mr Morris

We would like to wish you a warm welcome to Year 3!

Year 3 is the beginning of your child’s learning in Key Stage 2; as your child begins their journey in the Juniors, we would like to promote pupil independence. In our year, we will focus on teaching children to become responsible for their own learning through following our five school learning values: Respect, Resilience, Creativity, Aspiration and Inspiration.

Our aim is for children to learn in a stimulating way, making cross-curricular links where possible, so that children gain a universal approach to learning. We hope to enthuse children by engaging them in interesting lessons and activities during the school day, as well as providing out-of-school learning opportunities where possible, e.g. Sports clubs and school band. In Year 3, we have numerous exciting topics throughout the year including ‘The Stone Age to The Iron Age’, ‘All around the UK’, ‘The Ancient Maya’, ‘South America’ and many more.

Additional notices and examples of children’s work can be found within the Year 3 page on the school’s website; we will also continue to upload activities and messages onto the class story on the Class Dojo website and app, so stay tuned to both the website and Class Dojo page.

Please see the ‘Information for parents’ document for a more in-depth view into the class routines, timetable, deadlines for spellings and homework, along with a little ‘sneak peek’ into Year 3’s staff.

We look forward to an exhilarating year together, and we thank you in advance for your continued support with your child’s learning.

Kind regards,

Mr Neill (Class teacher)

Ms Simmons (HLTA)
