Sports Premium Strategy
Primary Schools Sports Funding - Sports Premium
The government has provided additional funding of £320 million per annum since 2013 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding – provided jointly by the Department for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport – is allocated to primary school head teachers. This funding is ring-fenced and, therefore, can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools. It is for individual schools to decide how the PE and Sport funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made to enhance the provision for PE.
All Saints received £17,590 Sports Premium funding in the year 2021-2022
At All Saints we want to inspire and enable all children to lead a physically active life, helping them to develop physical strength and stamina, mental wellbeing, and a passion for their chosen activities. It enhances team building through cooperating towards a shared objective, resilience and confidence. We want to develop and foster competitive spirit through team sports and self-challenge so that every child is able to set and achieve personal goals. We want to provide a positive experience of physical activity and sport which can help to build lifetime habits of participation.
At All Saints one of the initiatives we use our Sports Premium Funding is to employ a Specialist PE teacher who works with the staff to improve their knowledge and skills leading to the delivery of high quality PE lessons. This money has also been utilised to allow All Saints to pay for sports coaches to develop the participation of many more children in a wide range of activities and events. This has meant all children have the opportunity to participate in a variety of extra-curricular clubs after school.
All Saints has access to inter school tournaments organised and run in Stockport and Greater Manchester.
