Our Intent

Through the teaching of art and design we will enable children at All Saints to become creative and thoughtful artists.

Children will learn, develop and build upon the skills needed to be able to draw upon their knowledge of others artists work and use this to inspire their own work and exploration.

Children will be able to make decisions about which skills, styles, techniques and media to use for themselves and evaluate their decisions and creations.

Sketchbooks

Each child is given their own sketchbook as they enter year one. We encourage the children to take pride in their sketchbooks and they independently use them to explore and develop art skills and techniques, experiment with media and record information about the many great artists within our curriculum.

Display

You will see much of the children's art work on display, however it is not just the end result that we celebrate! We take photographs of the whole process and ensure that the sketchbooks show the development of the artistic ideas and skills that lead to any final art works.
